Published by the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Archív Orientální publishes articles, book-reviews and notes on all subjects connected with African and Asian studies. Contributions are in English, French and German. The journal was founded in 1929 by Bedrich Hrozný and has a reputation as one of the major periodicals on Oriental Studies. Occasionally supplementary volumes appear.
