Annotation

A focus on the social-interactional context of turn-construction and action sequence organization underscores the relevance of grammar in interaction conduct. A method for investigating such grammatical practices is presented. This methodology compares elements of grammatical organization both crosslinguistically and crossculturally, it describes the sequential organization of participants' handling of sentences-in-progress as well as the use of language-specific structures of turn-construction.
