Annotation

The central thesis of this book claims that the concept of linguistic equality (all dialects are equal, Standard English is not superior to any dialect) as advanced by Anglo-American (socio)linguists discourages people who are not native speakers of Standard English from learning it, thus berieving them of potential self-advancement opportunities.
