This research of symmetric women talk investigates women's friendship, examining language use in terms of collaboration. The emerging patterns differ from those in conversations between women and men (which fail to respond with paralel disclosure of their own) and contrary to the stereotypically negative view, women's talk does exhibit coherence, for instance through syntactic, lexical and semantic repetition, cementing solidarity.
