This book on computerized exchange systems for language data is divided in three major parts. Part I discusses conventions for creating and coding computerized transcript data files (CHAT). Part II offers a guide to 23 programs developed for the analysis of CHAT and non-CHAT formatted files. Part III describes the archive and provides information about the databases available for public access.
