Annotation

Focusing on the issue of how patterns of discourse influence thought about nuclear war, this paper undertakes an empirical analysis of two influential American texts (J. Schell's `The Fate of the Earth' and former Defense Secretary Weinberger's `US Defense Strategy') with specific regard to use of the first person plural pronoun (`we').
