Annotation

Based on the insights that even simple narrative texts can have multiple interpretations, and that the range of possible interpretations decreases with the presence of interclausal connectives, the authors argue for a mental model-deictic shift view of the role of these connectives, which takes account of readers' mental representations of the story.
