Annotation

This paper investigates the use of interruptions within the turn-taking system, classifying interruptions into cooperative and intrusive types, and the latter into three subtypes: topic-changing, floor-taking and disagreement interruptions. The frequency of the use of these different types, examined in English, Japanese and English-Japanese interactions, varies across cultures.
