This study offers a functional description of the main types of Romanian interrogative allo-repetitions, i.e. Echo, Rhetorical and Rhechorical Questions, and relates them to conversation analysis. It is argued that echo questions serve as dialogic repair mechanisms and rhetorical devices, whilst rhetorical and rhechorical questions represent dispreferred second parts of adjacency pairs whose first parts are respectively rhetorical and non-rhetorical (but with rhetorical second part).
