Annotation

This study which compares Israeli political talk show discursive interaction with traditional Jewish argumentation as performed in Talmudic academies, yields a series of similarities in discursive attributes: a marked preference for disagreement; high dialogicity of the exchanges in the sense of nuanced listening and responding; acceptance of occasional disruptions in the the dialogicity of the conversation-flow without its breakdown and high complexity of logic and structure in argument(ation). These results suggest the possibility of a survival and transfer of styles from the religious to the public ideological and political sphere.
