Analyzing agreement and disagreement within the context of German and Anglo-American disputes, it is argued that disputes are framed by suspending the preference order of a friendly conversation. The findings suggest that preference structure can change after dissent turns (of partial agreements) and concessions, in which many reluctance markers were found.
