This volume consists of two major parts, the first of which discusses various aspects of Jewish social and cultural history between 1882 and 1982. The second part provides an overall background of the revival of Hebrew in pre-Israel Palestine and an analysis of the causes that initiated the actual shift from the practically universal use of Yiddish to that of Hebrew.
