Annotation

The author uses the combined approaches of critical discourse analysis and sociolinguistics to examine three central questions: why do so many young people in Barcelona refuse to use Catalan or even develop anti-Catalan feelings?; why do many youth gangs engage in risky and antisocial practices?; and in what ways do gender relations and identities within youth gangs reinforce the social inequalities between the sexes?
