Annotation

This study deals with intention and meaning in a Taiap-Tok Pisin code-switched oratorical interaction that took place in 1987 in the village of Gapun (Papua New Guinea). In order to understand why villagers emphasize the multivocal potential of code-switching, the phenomenon must be contextualized within the framework of their culturally specific views on language, meaning and interaction.
