Annotation

This book on semantic change explores the different ways in which new meanings are generated via language use, and in particular speakers' and writers' experiments with word and construction usages. Drawing on a variety of English and Japanese examples, It is demonstrated that most changes in meaning stem from and are motivated by associative speech flow and conceptual metonymy.
