Annotation

The paper explores alphabetical encoding choice and code-switches in Athens (Greek) youth SMS text-messaging. Non-standard, marked graphemic choices, such as the use of both Greek and Roman alphabets, increase expressivity and point to participants’ connection with global popular cultures.
