Annotation

This study explores culturally-based ideologies regarding the use of Japanese honorifics in social identity construction in Japanese television drama. It also examines how implicatures that emerge via the marked usage of honorific forms serve to accomplish specific interactional goals such as the expression of (im)politeness.
