Annotation

An introduction to linguistic semantics and to some problem areas in the philosophy of language. K. argues that semantics is best approached by adopting a truth-based analysis and excluding from 'central-core semantics' all concepts relating to the speech situation, such as speech act, illocutionary force and utterance meaning. Further, she defends interpretive semantics. The book is also intended as an introduction to the construction of arguments in semantics.
