Annotation

Two traditions in semiotics, the Anglo-Saxon Peircean conception, and the continental Saussurean conception are compared in an attempt to bring them together. The focus of the discussion is on the impact of 'pragmaticism' on both approaches. Particular emphasis is given to how intentionality, action, conventionality, and interlocution are integrated in both orientations.
