The Bibliography of Metaphor and Metonymy mainly focuses on research in metaphor and metonymy, but aims for any other figurative language as well. It mostly covers recent research, starting from 1990 and encompasses monographs, journal articles, book series, dissertations, M.A.-theses, proceedings, working papers, unpublished work and conference papers. The overall purpose is to give an exhaustive overview of the latest research in figurative language use.
This bibliography surveys the major publications in the human and social sciences such as linguistics, literary studies, philosophy, psychology, education, sociology, and also, to a lesser extent, in the areas of medicine, therapy, and the positive sciences.
The bibliography is updated and extended annually. We strive to provide abstracts with the majority of entries. For the sake of fair information we have opted for abstracts by authors and editors, whenever possible. All sources of abstracts are indicated under the abstract.
With an eye on the annual updates authors are invited to send missing abstracts for existing titles and to submit new titles with abstracts of a maximum of 150 words to the main editors Antonio Barcelona Sánchez (ff1basaa@uco.es) or Francisco J. Ruiz de Mendoza Ibáñez (francisco.ruizdemendoza@gmail.com). The editors are aware of the fact that errors in any bibliography are unavoidable and will be pleased to receive suggestions for corrections.
