Abstract

This chapter provides a summary of the expansion of the discipline of Translation Studies since the 1980s brought about by the broadening of the contextualization of translation and interpreting. The chapter also touches on a vast array of work related to cultural studies, demonstrating how the ambit of translation and Translation Studies has been transformed with the influx of ideas from other disciplines. The author also notes the metaphorical meaning of translation that are brought into play by postcolonial theories.
