Abstract

This article sketches out a general background for the systematic analysis of characteristics and typologies of orally translated television discourse in Italy, and highlights some of its crucial aspects. It starts with a description of television interpreting, then moves on to the characteristics of interpreter-mediated communication. The following components are considered: situation, participants, ends, act sequences, key, instrumentalities, norms and genres.
