Annotation

Current research in psycholinguistics encompasses a rich array of issues (comprehension, production, acquisition, lexical representation), experimental methodologies, and theoretical orientations. While a vast body of knowledge has been established under conventional theories, both modular and interactivist, connectionist models, although in an early stage of development, now constitute an important challenge to the more traditional views of language processing, offering both a radically different perspective and a new source of insights. As to psycholinguistics and pragmatics, they are natural and complementary partners with research in one area enhanced and informed by that in the other.
