Abstract

The treaty De interpretatione recta by the Italian humanist Leonardo Bruni was written about 1424. It is the oldest known treaty of translation after the reflections of St. Jerome, and it presents itself as a proclamation of humanistic culture. The great theoretical questions about the linguistic transfer are linked to reflections on the relationship between words and things, style and thoughts. The new French translation by Charles the White is presented with the Latin text next to it.
