This chapter goes into different aspects of the translation of literature for children. It discusses the status of children’s literature; didacticism and censorship; mediation and contextual adaptation; narrative communication; stylistics; and translating the visual. To conclude, the chapter pays attention to the translator’s view: the contributions of translators to general discussions of translating for children; and to research in the translation of children’s literature.
