Abstract
This chapter gives a short history of film translation, followed by some theoretical aspects of dubbing. It then turns to the different types of synchrony and revoicing before discussing the practical aspects of the practice and the role of the translator in the process. The conclusion offers some criticism of the practice, and some suggestions for improvement.
