This chapter takes the reader back to the origins of interpreter training and the beginnings of community interpreter training. It then briefly discusses different approaches to interpreter training and selection procedures for admission to interpreter training programmes. The author also goes into different types of interpreter programmes and their curriculum. Lastly, a description of interpreting assessment is presented.
