Abstract

In this chapter Pantuchowicz looks at the spaces of power from a philosophical perspective. She argues that translation has the potential to act as an antidote to those hegemonic discourses that present language as a transparent and ideology-free tool whose only function is to express certain preconceived truths. She contends that the capacity of the interdiscipline to question the apparent transparency and fixity of meaning may neutralise those positivist ideologies that claim to have direct access to the world and to represent it in an accurate manner.
