Based on the differences between Chinese and English verb-object structures, this paper analyzes the causes of mistranslation of " review one’s experience " in English. The main reason is that the behavior-product relationship in the semantic structure of Chinese verb-object collocation "review one’s experience" is wrongly transplanted into English, while the English “sum up” does not support the behavior-product semantic relationship, but only supports the behavior material semantic relationship. The correct English translation should be “review one's experience”. Although the literal meaning of the above two expressions is not completely equivalent, they are semantically equivalent as a whole. Fundamentally speaking, this difference is caused by the difference between the covert and overt components in the language structure when human cognitive structure projects to Chinese and English.
