This chapter proposes a theory of translation as publication. Mostly forgotten by translation studies, this dimension of translation is nonetheless crucial, because translations are part of a material, economic and geopolitical history, just as much as hermeneutics, aesthetics or cultural theory. This materialist and geopolitical perspective allows to reflect on the place of translation in globalization.
