In this paper, the author moves from the analysis of a small corpus of consecutive interpreting exams to stress the importance of coherence markers in note-taking and target text production. Coherence is seen as a necessary and sometimes even sufficient element in evaluating a student’s performance and a series of conclusions are drawn with a view to training.
