Abstract

This article addresses some of the core competences of legal translators and interpreters. Furthermore, it looks into the recognition of the fact that LIT training varies significantly across the European Union, along with the suggestion that specialist training in legal domains might also include and be relevant to professional practice in social service and health domains. Testing and research is the final issue discussed. The problems and training of sign language interpreters are also tackled.
