In this paper, the author analyses two prominent women and cross-cultural communicators. By linking these two women translators and literary theorists across time and space, Simon shows how translation can be used in both the development and the decay of national identities. He shows that by promoting certain literary values, by forging partnerships, women can use translation as a powerful tool to participate in the creation of new cultural dynamics.
