Abstract

The paper discusses the name of our discipline and defends Translation Studies. Then, it classifies the different fields and criteria to conclude that there should be a primary division into Theory, Description and Applied studies, with their own branches. Generally considered to be a classic in the discipline that has put order into the terminology of Translation Studies.
