The present paper on early Arabic translators discusses their translation methods, their approach to translation and translation problems, the latter of which fall into three categories: 1) understanding the contents of the original; 2) adequate transmission of the contents; and 3) linguistic problems.The author concludes this paper with a discussion of the role of the early Arabic translators and their influence on Arab and Mediaeval European society and science.
