The aim of the paper is to outline the general tendencies in the translation flow from Poland to Portugal between 1855 and 2009. Firstly, the research goals and the object of study are discussed. Secondly, quantitative data concerning the frequency and classification of Portuguese translations of Polish texts is presented. The data shows that Polish texts classified as literature and social sciences are the best represented groups, both in terms of authors and volumes. For this reason, in the third part of the paper the analysis of Portuguese translations of Polish literary and political texts is presented. The paper ends with an outline of preliminary conclusions and future research avenues.
