The article studies the role of translations of the Antiquity in transferring from orality to literality. In the light of contemporary translation theories, it establishes a correlation between the translational activities in the Antic Age and in the foundation years of the Turkish Republic, where translations from the Antic Age have gained popularity by the adoption of Latin script (1928) with the hope of creating a society where literality prevails.
