Transkreaatio [Transcreation]

Käännös Miriam Paavola
Sisällysluettelo

Termi transkreaatio alkoi levitä käännöspiireissä 2000-luvun alkupuolella, kun kielipalveluiden tarjoajat alkoivat käyttää sitä mainonnassaan ”pyrkimyksenä erottua tavanomaisista käännösfirmoista” (Bernal Merino 2006, oma käännös). Useiden tutkijoiden (esim. Gambier & Munday 2014) ja kääntäjien mielestä transkreaatio-termin avulla on vain uudelleenbrändätty (ks. Katan 2016: 377) se, mitä hyvän käännöksen pitäisikin olla, eli tekstin uudelleen luomista toiselle kielelle. Näin on etenkin niillä aloilla, joilla kääntämisessä luonnostaan korostuu luovuus, kuten kaunokirjallisessa kääntämisessä (Literary translation), mainostekstien kääntämisessä (Advertising translation) ja lokalisoinnissa (Localization and translation).
